A vibrant, carefully processed coffee produced by a small community of farmers in Tangwen, high on the slopes of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda.

After harvesting, the coffee cherries undergo 72 hours of fermentation in anaerobic conditions before being naturally dried. This controlled process encourages greater sweetness, fruit-forward character and complexity in the finished cup.

The Tangwen farmers supply our long-standing partners, Zukuka Bora Coffee Company. A dedicated premium is included in the purchase price of this coffee, helping to fund community projects throughout the Mount Elgon region.

Zukuka Bora also supports JENGA Community Development, an NGO that has worked in the area for almost 20 years. Its projects include education sponsorship, clean-water schemes, community savings groups, health promotion, agricultural training and wider support for farming families.

The Tangwen farmer group consistently produces some of the finest coffees on Mount Elgon, with its lots regularly ranking among the best Ugandan coffees we taste each season.
