Nabusimake, meaning “the place where the sun rises” in the native Arhuaco language, is a sacred community nestled in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta—a region rich in nature, culture, and peace. Here, the Comunidad de Nabusimake cultivates Typica, one of Colombia’s oldest and most traditional coffee varieties. The farming methods remain organic and respectful of ancestral practices, passed down through families for centuries.

Among the community’s leaders is Oliverio Villafaña, an indigenous farmer who left his homeland to study agronomy before returning with new knowledge to strengthen sustainable coffee farming in his community.
