The Story

Ipanema Coffees has been crafting coffee in Brazil since the 1870s. Their Premier Cru range represents the pinnacle of Brazilian specialty coffee — handcrafted micro-lots from the highest peaks of their historic Rio Verde estate.

Each “glebe” (plot) on the farm is planted with a single variety and treated as its own vineyard-style terroir. Glebe G54, where this lot was grown, sits high in the Mantiqueira mountains — known as the Heart of Minas (Cuore de Minas) — where cool nights and rich volcanic soil create exceptional cup clarity.

The Premier Cru project began in 2014 and officially launched in 2018. Each year’s release carries its own theme; Cuore de Minas celebrates the deep love and dedication poured into coffee farming across the region.

Only a few micro-lots each year reach Diamond Edition status, reserved for coffees that express unparalleled balance, aroma, and sweetness.

Processing

This Gesha was naturally dried on the tree — the cherries were left to wither and concentrate their sugars before harvest. Once picked, they were finished on raised beds for over 13 days to stabilise flavour. The result is a cup that is both vibrant and elegant, with floral aromatics reminiscent of orange blossom and subtle tropical undertones.
