Producer & Origin Story

Fazenda Santa Jucy is stewarded by André Lima, who comes from a background deeply rooted in coffee farming, although he originally trained as an economist. Around 7 years ago, he stepped confidently into the family’s coffee enterprise, introducing modern management and quality practices that have elevated the farm’s output.

Nestled in the Alta Mogiana region—a highland area known for its ideal climate, rich soils, and distinctive microclimate—Santa Jucy benefits from consistent altitude and careful care, helping the Red Catuai varietal thrive with expressive sweetness and clarity.

Farming & Processing Practices

  • Varietal Selection: Red Catuai—favoured for its balanced flavour profile and resilience under the region’s conditions

  • Processing Method: The coffee undergoes a pulped natural process. This involves removing the outer cherry skin while retaining much of the mucilage, which remains during drying. This method accentuates body and sweetness, reducing acidity while maintaining clarity compared to fully natural processes.

  • While specific details on harvest, fermentation duration, or drying protocol aren’t publicly listed, the high-altitude and controlled environment of Alta Mogiana suggest tight oversight and consistent quality.

Quality & Cup Characteristics

  • Strengths: The lot is celebrated for its creamy, velvety finish, making it a standout for daily espresso rituals and milk-based drinks like flat whites.

  • Flavour Profile: Expect rich caramel sweetness, nutty almond tones, and a silky finish reminiscent of brown sugar. It’s comforting and rounded, yet refined.

Why This Coffee Stands Out

  • Balanced & Versatile Cup: The pulped natural process brings depth and sweetness without masking nuances—perfect whether brewed straight or with milk.

  • Producer Excellence: André Lima’s background and the farm’s evolution showcase a blend of tradition and innovation, reflected in the coffee’s consistency and clarity.

  • Regional Richness: Alta Mogiana is historically known for high-quality coffee, and Santa Jucy leverages both altitude and environment to yield pronounced caramel and nut notes with a luxurious feel.
