About Kenya Coffee

Gatomboya derives its name from the Kikuyu word "swamp," reflecting the swampy terrain that made it an ideal area for cultivating arrowroots. Established in 1987 under Mathira FCS, Gatomboya later became an independent entity in 1996 when it joined Barichu FCS. The cooperative is dedicated to collecting cherries from approximately 698 smallholder farmers for processing.

Origins
Kenya

Gatamboya is a renowned coffee-producing area within the Nyeri region of Kenya, known for its high-quality beans grown at elevations between 1,700 and 1,900 meters. The region benefits from the nutrient-rich volcanic soils of Mount Kenya, producing coffee with vibrant acidity, juicy berry notes, and a distinctive floral aroma. Gatamboya operates as a cooperative society, where smallholder farmers bring their ripe cherries to centralized mills. The coffee undergoes a traditional washed process, enhancing its bright, clean profile. Over the years,

Gatamboya has gained a reputation among specialty coffee lovers for its consistently complex, flavourful cups that showcase the best of Kenyan terroir.

Camden Coffee Roastery is the first of its kind in Central London, dedicated to making specialty coffee accessible to all.
